Silverton Mortgage Specialists Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary by Giving Back to their Community:  "10 Years of Success--10 Ways of Giving Back" Year-Round Fundraising, Donation and Volunteer Campaign

Atlanta, GA--Silverton Mortgage Specialists, a locally owned and operated leading residential mortgage broker/banker, continues its history of giving back to the local community.  Celebrating their 10-year anniversary, Silverton has put into action a year-long fundraising, direct donation and volunteer campaign, "10 Years of Success - 10 Ways of Giving Back" as a way of sharing their success with the Atlanta community.

For the past nine years, this Atlanta-based mortgage company has hosted fundraisers raising tens of thousands of dollars for local charities such as Atlanta Public Parks and Emory Health Clinic. In 2007, Silverton continued its pledge by entering a team in the First Annual ING Marathon and raised more than $10,000 for My House, a non-profit charity in Atlanta providing a home-like living environment for special-needs infants who are ready to leave the hospital but have nowhere to go.

Profit and Compassion:  Unlikely Companions?

By Josh Moffitt

President, Silverton Mortgage Specialists, Inc.

Watch the news most evenings, and you'll see what's wrong in the world.  Well, in this article, I hope to focus on what I think may be right in the world.  So, if you'll indulge me these few paragraphs, I'd like to take a few moments to reflect on why our theme for our ten year anniversary is "10 Years of Success:  10 Ways of Giving Bac.k"

When starting Silverton I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my family.  My grandfather, his father and mother, my mother, my uncle and my grandmother were all wonderful role models in both the business world as well as pillars of their community.  They taught me through their actions that success in business does not have to be at the expense of compassion.

I learned that to be successful, whether in business or in the community, it takes hard work and lots of it.  I learned that to be successful you have to earn the respect and trust of those with whom you work.  I learned that you have to be true to your vision of what your business or service can and should be.  And, I learned that sharing success with your family and your community makes it all even sweeter.

So, when I put my vision for Silverton down on paper, it had to have two components that some may think are incongruous:  profitability and compassion.  It was in that spirit that Silverton Mortgage Specialists was conceived and has grown.

And, it is in that spirit that we hope to move forward into the next ten years.  Thanks to all of you for being a part of our success.  We hope that you will join us in our volunteer and fundraising efforts over the next few months.
